It is incredibly rare to become an Action Screen Actor overnight or after a single training course. Acting is a skill that requires professional training from a drama school, independent course or private lessons that are specifically geared towards screen acting and performance.An Action Screen Actor needs to be very fit and adaptable to a range of roles and genres. BECOMING A SPECIAL ACTION EXTRAA Special Action Extra is a supporting artist that has additional training in screen combat, martial arts, firearms or horse-riding. They could also be someone with past military or police experience. Over the last decade Special Action Extra’s have been employed on film as background artists for large fight scenes. Especially good performers can be called upon to work with the stunt teams or gain a featured role. They are not stunt performers and are not qualified to perform stunts.A Special Action Extra needs to be very fit and be adaptable to a range of different roles and genres. No matter how skilled they are in martial arts, it is advisable for Special Action Extra’s to have training and experience in the principles of screen combat.HOW CAN STAGEFIGHT HELP?All of our courses will provide essential training and experience that would prove useful for any Special Action Extra. Our stage and screen combat courses are specially designed to teach students how to quickly and efficiently adapt to different weapon systems in any film genre.
BECOMING A STUNT PROFESSIONALA professional stunt performer is a highly skilled individual that is employed to undertake action sequences that are considered too dangerous for an actor to perform. Becoming a stunt performer requires time and dedication. It is not a professional that can be learn quickly over a weekend or after a few training courses. Stunt professionals in the United Kingdom must apply for the British Stunt Register, that requires a minimum of six sporting disciplines and experience as a performer or supporting artist on professional film productions just to apply. Once the application to join the register is accepted the real training then begins! Professional stunt performers must be extremely fit, dedicated and willing to be the unsung heroes that make high octane action scenes what they are.HOW CAN STAGEFIGHT HELP?Understanding how to fight in a range of different styles and with various weapon systems can assist trainee stunt performers into gaining action roles from professional film productions.
